Air Separators
Air is the single worst enemy to any hydronic heating system. Entrained air being present in any hydronic system can cause a myriad of problems, from cold areas due to the system being air bound, to premature equipment failures due to rust, scale, and corrosion. There are two ways to remove air from the system, by the use of an air scoop and by use of a centrifugal type separator.
Air/Dirt Separators
The American Wheatley HVAD High Velocity and STAD Standard Velocity Coalescing Air & Dirt Separator is intended for use on commercial HVAC, institutional, and industrial applications to remove entrained air and particulate from system water.
Air Scoops
The American Wheatley AS Series air scoop operates on the premise that air will rise in the piping and then into air scoop, being directed to the top opening and out of the system through an air vent or to an expansion tank. Since proper operation of this type of air separator is also dependent on velocity, sizing this type of air separator is a function of proper flow rate. This type of air separation is best suited for residential and light commercial applications.
Triple Duty Valves
Combination pump discharge valve functioning as a shut-off, check and calibrated flow balancer. Available in sizes 1-1/2” through 12” with cast iron body. Threaded or flanged ends.
Strainers
American Wheatley manufacturers Y and Basket Strainers for the HVAC industry. Y Strainers are available in 2” through 24” ASNSI class 125 and 250. Basket Strainers are available in sizes 2” through 24”, cast iron body, ANSI class 125 or 250. Dual Basket strainers sizes 2” through 16” ASNSI class 125
Heat Exchangers
American Wheatley HVAC Products offers ASME shell & tube heat exchangers available in sizes 4″ through 30″. The U-Tube construction is built in accordance with ASME Section VIII. All fabrication are done in house and national board registered.
Suction Diffusers/Flow Diverters
The Wheatley suction diffuser is designed to reduce space and installation costs by replacing a long radius elbow, strainer and extended entry pipe on the suction side of the pump.
